Time to start looking at where to post. Still foggy on what to do for the Publishing/Leadership project. I hope to know what I'm doing by the end of the week. One resource I would love to publish to would be Edutopia. I have gotten most of my information and references from the magazine and two Edutopia groups I joined called Middle School, and Arts/Music/Drama. I don't know what I would do without Edutopia.
The farthest I've gotten in acquiring a submission for publishing is downloading the submission release form. I cannot submit without one. Along with that, I just need to once again, organize, organize, organize!
I want to submit into the section for the Arts, possibly in a feature section. I'll work on it.

I love Edutopia also. I have subscribed to the magazine and couldn't have lived without it for this program. Well, are further along than I am with the project because I haven't even downloaded a submission release form yet. I guess I better get to it. And don't feel alone about being in a fog about the project because you aren't. I am trying to take one day at a time. What gets done gets done!!! Don't stress over it. Good luck to you!!!!!

WEEK # 3 RESPONSE TO JOLYN deMERITTE

I’m currently torn between publishing my AR research or presenting it. There are some great education journals, magazines and sites out there that I’d like to see my name on. I’m considering Edutopia, Teacher magazine, Education Next or a missive with the International Journal of Learning and Media (IJLM). I want to plant the seeds for virtual teaming. I would love to collaborate with schools outside of my county, state and/or country.
Conversely, I’d really like to see virtual team become a reality in schools not just an academic idea. If I were to present, I’d like to send proposals to speak at the following conferences: National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC), Distance Learning Administration, National Staff Development Council (NSDC), or the Georgia Assn. for Gifted Children (GAGC).

WEEK # 3 RESPONSE TO WEEKLY PROJECT AR SUMMARY
RESPONSE TO ACTION RESEARCH SUMMARY
Writing my summary helped put things into perspective. I was able to see how my project emerged. What were the weak areas and how to improve on them. What were the strong areas and how to implement them in the future. I appreciate the process and wish my project would have turned out differently. But according to Zander, "Mistakes can be like ice. If we resist them, we may keep on slipping into a posture of defeat" (2000).
There were so many other things I wanted to do with my project that I hope to do in the future.

CHAPTER 7
I guess the situations discussed in this chapter and book for that matter are true, but I don't think people really sit and think about them. Well, of course, if we take every experience and expand and develop from it we will be successful, but does this really happen in real life. I truly believe in the statement that we can be present in the way things are but not accepting of them. It takes a lot of hard work to be present to everything that is happening without resistance and to realize that this creates possibility. A person needs to have many experiences in life to appreciate his/her mistakes and learn from them. I love the statement from the book, "mistakes can be like ice, if we resist them, we may keep on slipping into a posture of defeat".

My connection to this chapter about passion is the statement that passion gives momentum to efforts to build. When someone is passionate about something, they will certainly show it in the way he/she plays, teaches, reads, sings, etc... I love to read to children, especially my childhood favorites, and it shows when I do. When you have this feeling then you know you have chosen the right profession.

WEEK #2 READING THE ART OF POSSIBILITY CHAPTERS 4-6
THE ART OF POSSIBILITY
The more I read of this book I wonder why we weren't assigned to read it at the beginning of the program. I love the creative and uplifting ideas about new possibilities in life. I am going to suggest that my 21 year old niece, who just graduated from college, living in Washington D.C., read it.
CHAPTER 4
I never experienced the dinner table game, but I do know what it feels like to judge yourself by other people's standards. I am always comparing myself to others. That's why I love the contribution game. Contribution has no other side. I started to write down my contributions for the week. I feel one of my contributions is reading to children every day. I help my husband with dinner every night. I help with cleaning the house. I do the laundry. I work and go to school. I take care of dogs every day.
I think everyone should make a list. This shows how important you really are!!!
CHAPTER 5
In chapter 5, the silent conductor is discussed. How is the conductor going to know what the players are feeling about his effectiveness? He can tell a lot by looking into their eyes, posture, and their whole demeanor. This is how I analyzed my AR project through observation. I could tell how my students were feeling more through their conversations because fifth graders really don't care if the teacher hears or not. If a project wasn't liked by some then I'd hear some moans. Occasionally, some students would roll their eyes. You can't please everyone.
CHAPTER 6
One of the reasons I married my husband was for his sense of humor. I 100% agree that laughter is the best medicine. After a good laughter, you always feel better. The discussion about calculating self and central self got a little confusing. From what I understand, calculating self is thinking of him/herself and central self appears once Rule Number 6 has been practiced. I just love the games that are played in the book. Participants were to "Have the Best ___________ Ever." It didn't matter how they filled in the blank. The participants were encouraged to remember Rule Number 6 and have it be fulfilled. This a game that could be played in real life.

WEEK #2 RESPONSE TO ACTION RESEARCH STATUS PROJECT
ACTION RESEARCH STATUS REPORT
The AR status project took me longer to finish than expected. I came into the AR program in my month 5 which I think has made things difficult for me. I didn't start fresh like everyone else. When looking over the the AR blog entries, I realized that my months didn't correspond with what was listed. The only preparation I had was a conversation with Dr. Ludgate over the phone. I did some research of my own, but research and the actual process are so different. I think that's why I wanted to take a LOA and join the AR program because I wanted to be doing something with the research. My project has been disappointing to me because my students didn't response the way expected, and I was hospitalized and away from school for two months. So the publishing/leadership project is going to be challenging.

RESPONSE TO PATRICIA MARCINO
This video would have been perfect for last month's LMO.
However, I wanted to share it. You may have seen it already
but it rings true for us emerging into the world of technology.
Last month, Dr. Gibson said we were now experts given the
information we have learned.
I don't feel like an expert, but I do know much more than I did
a year ago. It will take me awhile to get where I want to be in
this information age, but I am enjoying learning everything we
have been exposed to at FSO.
Teachers must move forward and embrace the technology that is available to us if we are to manage the
growth and potential of the students who are entrusted to us to educate. They are our future and to ensure
our future is in the best of hands, we must do everything we can to move our districts in the direction of
technology advancement.

I was unable to add my comment to Patricia's site, but I wanted to comment on the video that she posted. I am an elementary school librarian, and I just found out this week that my district is eliminating all elementary librarians. Students will have opportunities to use the library, but it will be the teacher's responsibility to bring them now instead of a fixed time. I have mixed feelings about this. Watching the video, I know there's a lot more time spent reading e-books, online magazines, online journals, etc....., but I can't see how a computer or phone can take the place of a book or the mother/father reading to his/her child.
